01.01.07 | Jim Thompson launches the Muses Collection

Ask any artist what provokes his creativity and he’ll most certainly pay tribute to his Muse. Taking its name from Greek Goddesses Thalia, Clio, Erato and Calliope, these four stunning fabrics were configured through the perception of divinity.
The end result: Jim Thompson’s very own definition of immortal beauty.

The stars of this collection usher in a flood of subliminal imagery – an allegorical take on the angelic Muses. The semi-circles of the Thalia, for example, take us on a celestial journey above the horizons amongst the stars; Erato – takes
us on a walk in a dream-like Oriental garden resplendent with hand-painted Chrysanthemums; Calliope – a soothing journey through time to reap the best pickings from the past back into the present; and Clio – an aesthetically pleasing blend of the old with the new.

True to their existence, the Muses uplift the soul to new planes and render each of the fabrics in this collection an ethereal grace.

3256 THALIA
100%Silk
4 colorways
Thalia adapts an ancient technique of the Ikat, a traditional method of tie dyeing and hand weaving silk, for which Jim Thompson is most renowned, and blends it with the ultra modern. The use of geometric forms such as semi-circles nestled within
squares makes this a unique and uber-cool design. With our distinctive choice of colours, this 100 percent 6-ply hand woven silk fabric is an accomplished balance between the traditional and the contemporary.

3253 CLIO
100%Silk
3 colorways
Warp printing is a most logical step for Jim Thompson because it brings together the key assets of the Jim Thompson brand: the use of silk and the continuous quest for excellence and innovation while reviving unique crafts of the past. Adopting a similar concept as the Ikat, the process of making this large-scale fabric is equally time-consuming and requires exceptional skill. This sophisticated piece of textile shuns banal colours for the more subdued earthen tones, rendering a very contemporary look from an age-old technique.

3257 ERATO
50%Silk – 50%Cotton
5 colorways
The Chrysanthemum, a typically regal flower that symbolizes wealth, power and elegance, embodies the very meaning of divinity. For this reason, it is a fitting addition to any floral-loving household that upholds sophistication and decadence at its core. This heavenly piece of fabric is so intricately woven that it successfully replicates the feel of an oil painting; each petal seemingly hand drawn by the quick stroke of an artist’s wrist. Like the Chrysanthemum, Jim Thompson’s appreciation for Asian cultural riches in all its forms is perennial.

3258 CALLIOPE
54%Linen – 26%Cotton – 20%Silk
6 colorways
Adieu to the mundane vibes of the damask. By dressing up the damask in a more fresh and youthful colour palette, Jim Thompson lifts the seemingly traditional look to a deserving place in the contemporary world. Hip and screaming for attention, the
combination of silk and linen as well as the use of new colours proves that the damask is here to stay.

3241 MILAN
100%Trevira CS
30 colorways
Martindale 31,667 rubs
Milan is the Trevira CS version of the ever-so-popular Chenille Canvas. Originally designed by Ed Tuttle for the Park Hyatt Milan, this sumptuous fabric comes in a multitude of colourways which exude a combination of cosmopolitan simplicity and time-honoured elegance. By using the twill weave with innovative colour combinations, prominent designers have dubbed it “the jewel in the crown” of upholstery fabrics.

3250 HANOI
60%Cotton – 40%Rayon
30 colorways
Martindale 26,000 rubs
At last, there’s someone who knows how to glam up upholstery fabric. Sophistication and refinement are not common among contract upholstery fabrics- Hanoi derives its indefinable mystery of colour and texture from the space-dyed technique which
gives the fabric the irregularity and uniqueness designers all search for in upholstery.

3251 SAIGON
100%Trevira CS
15 colorways
Martindale 7,500 rubs
Inspired by the unfinished texture of coconut bark, Saigon is made from Trevira CS so cherished by the hospitality market. The daring mixture of neutral colours with primary tones brings about a gamut of riveting colourways.
