16.10.07 | Jim Thompson launches the Vegas Collection, September 2007

THE “VEGAS” COLLECTION For over half a century Jim Thompson’s name has been synonymous with Thai silk and its unique beauty. The Jim Thompson brand is today denotes the highest standard of quality and design. It is also associated with the sophisticated textiles woven in Trevira CS which are ideal for the contract market. In its innovative use of Trevira CS yarn and applying the latest print technology, Jim Thompson has established itself at the cusp of this fast-growing and ever so competitive “hospitality” market. The September 2007 “Vegas” collection is made up of Trevira CS fabrics in printed and woven form, emphasising Jim Thompson’s commitment to respond to the fire-retardant needs of the hospitality market. This fourth Trevira CS collection from Jim Thompson is made all the more enticing with the first-time inclusion of printed Trevira CS fabrics, currently seldom found in the market. The “Vegas” collection features intricate woven materials which are Bellagio, Baccarat and Black Jack and much sought after prints named Mirage, Flamingo and Roulette. THE VEGAS COLLECTION fabrics have a high fastness to light, are flame resistant and are also easy to care for; yet radiate the Jim Thompson aura of quality and sophistication. 3278 Black Jack 100% Trevira CS 18 colours Replicating the look of silk in Trevira CS, Black Jack is a taffeta weight which can be used for drapery and light upholstery. The origin of the design is geometric in form and each colourway is carefully contrasted in a “tone on tone” concept resulting in the most subtle of patterns. The palette is neutral with shots of “sky blue” and “crimson red”. 3279 Bellagio 100% Trevira CS 11 colours Bellagio is Trevira CS at its most exalted form. Inspired from archival documents from the 1800’s, Bellagio is as sophisticated as any silk damask to be found. Careful selection of colour combinations also renders Bellagio with an elegance and refinement not frequently found in Trevira CS collections. Bellagio comes in grey and silver hues as well as warm beiges and reds, and of course the clean whites - so often in demand today. 3280 Baccarat 100% Trevira CS 12 colours Baccarat is woven with a mystical allure. The construction gives the fabric a three-dimensional quality that is ideal for light upholstery and drapery. Each colourway has a tonal contrast so that the cloud-like patterns take on an amorphous look and seem to appear and disappear depending on the perspective taken. 3281 Mirage 100% Trevira CS 6 colours This stylized floral pattern is contemporary in feel, yet has a certain softness and warmth in the shapes of the twigs and petals. The pattern rests well on the handwoven “replica” ground with the mock “saifon” effect of a strie weft. 3282 Flamingo 100% Trevira CS 4 colours Taken from an all-time favorite Jim Thompson print, Flamingo is the new Trevira CS version of “Escape”. All three prints in “Vegas” use the immensely popular ground cloth known as “Sukhumvit” which is a 100% Trevira CS taffeta weight fabric that is woven to replicate a handwoven look. Flamingo colourways are inspired by the previous sprightly colours of Escape but are also mixed with new combinations of tones. 3283 Roulette 100% Trevira CS 5 colours Roulette is a joyous and dream-like print on taffeta Trevira CS ground. Colours are fresh, youthful and fashion-inspired for the latest cool, minimal, contemporary locations that need that splash of decoration and colour.
