Zoffany launches Fontaine digital prints, March 2008

This magnificent collection of vividly coloured, printed linens has been created by Royal College of Art graduate Claire Hart. Her distinctive designs are inspired by nature and executed in an elegant style.

The elements of Claire’s designs are separately painted in intricate detail with luminous, saturated colour and afterwards arranged to create beautiful and dramatic compositions.

The fabric is digitally printed in the UK to capture every nuance of the original artwork and the whole collection is a superb illustration of the possibilities this method of printing brings to contemporary design.

The designs are as follows:-

Snow Blossom – A romantic landscape of cherry blossom trees decorated with birds, butterflies and beautiful flowers. Printed across two widths of fabric which can either be joined to show the full design repeat or alternatively can be used as individual panels. The design has drawn its inspiration from Chinese silk wall coverings from the end of the 18th century but incorporates a fresh and contemporary style. It works both stretched on a wall or as traditional curtains.

It is available in four colourways – yellow, silver, green and duck egg.

A section of the design showing birds and blossoms is also available in all 4 colours as a 46 cms cushion square. These must be bought in multiples of 3.

Peacock Feather – This design shows a large, flamboyant peacock feather painted with rich iridescent tones of turquoise, green and gold and is available on two natural linen grounds – natural and ecru linens.

A section of the design is also available as a 70cms cushion square. These must be bought in multiples of 2.

Gladioli – A powerful, graphic image of bright scarlet gladioli blooms almost two metres high surrounded by butterflies and printed on ecru linen.

Fontaine - This design is a classic composition of Chinese porcelain jars filled with bunches of cherry blossom against a subtle ombré background. It is available in three harmonious colourways – soft mauves with plum, inky blue with duck egg and elegant green and chocolate.
